Malbec has recently become one of the best selling grapes in the UK. It's easy to see why with it's signature deep fruit flavours and how well it takes to the use of oak. This balance of fruit and oak makes it an ideal match for red meats.
Here is a chosen selection of Malbecs from around the world including my personal favourite - The Caligiore ORGANIC Malbec from Mendoza.
Case includes -
Finca del Alta. Argentina - This wine has an intense deep garnet colour, with aromas of red cherries and hints of blackberries on the nose. The full-bodied Malbec grape is an ideal partner of pasta dishes, Italian cuisine and can also be enjoyed on its own.
Made in Mendoza. Argentina - With notes of black plum and damson, this wine has a dry palate with juicy fruit and minerality. Well-integrated tannins and a clean finish.
Tucumen. Argentina - This wine has an intense deep garnet colour, with aromas of red cherries and hints of blackberries on the nose.
Caligiore ORGANIC. Argentina - A really gutsy Malbec from Gustavo Caligiore in Lujan de Cujo (Mendoza). A wine of real character – a deep, purply red with a gorgeously dark fruited nose. In the mouth it’s rich and fruity, supported by gentle tannins and there’s reassuring sweetness on the finish. Me gusto mucho!
Running Duck ORGANIC. South Africa - A deep-coloured, full-fruited red with ripe berry and violet notes. Its smooth and appealingly juicy on the palate with soft tannins and a firm finish.
The Brand. Chille - Hints of plums, blackberries and a touch of vanilla from gentle oak ageing.
